There are exactly 20 days of school left! We have the following big things to complete yet in Health:
1. Nutrition Quiz 2. Drug News Article 3. Drug Quiz 4. Final Disease Project All materials are due by the last day of school! Keep up For those students completing the Scavenger Hunt, my favorite kind of peanut butter is SKIPPY!
7th Grade Health:
- Quiz today on decision-making, character, stress. - Starting nutrition Monday 8th Grade - Continuing CPR and First Aid. Well, its the start of Quarter 2! Over the next 9-weeks we will cover a wide variety of topics.
This blog is a great way to try and stay up on the class. Please know that if you post a comment or question, that everyone can view it, and I will know who posted it. Please keep comments respectful and relevant to the class. By the way, my favorite peanut butter is Skippy! We are already at the mid-quarter. 4 1/2 weeks left of heath and then those students that have the Health class will be moving on to a different allied class.
Here is an update of what's been going on and what is coming up: 7th Grade: 24-hour food logs are due Monday October 4th. Students used the My Pyramid website to analyze a day's worth of eating. Cool stuff. Two units left; Alcohol, Tobacco, and Illegal Drugs, as well at Chronic and Communicable diseases. 8th Grade: We are finishing CPR and First Aid today. Yesterday we talked about head, neck, or back injuries. We actually back-boarded a couple of volunteers in class! Up next, Human Growth and Development. As always, feel free to call or email with questions. Almost 2-weeks of school done, and we are in full swing in Health. 7th graders will take their first quiz on Friday of this week, covering decision-making, stress management, self-esteem, and character.
8th graders are in action learning about basic first aid and being ready for an emergency. This week they made their own plan on how to evacuate the building incase of a fire emergency! As always, check back often for more updates. We have begun our first unit today, talking about decision-making. We talked about the healthy process that goes into making a good decision as well. Homework for tomorrow...answer this question. What is the message of the "Great American Jackalope"?
Today is the last day of Quarter 3. Students will be rotating to a different allied class on Monday. All final projects are due Monday March 29, at the beginning of the day!
